Under his leadership, the restaurant continues to evolve while maintaining the standards and reputation it has become known for.

The dining experience is matched by attentive, understated service, creating an atmosphere that feels polished yet relaxed. Whether joining us for lunch or dinner, guests can expect food that is confident, considered, and quietly ambitious.

The Lord Bute enjoys an exceptional location close to the New Forest and the Dorset coast, just moments from sandy beaches and dramatic cliffs, and within easy reach of Christchurch, Bournemouth, and Lymington.

Once the residence of Lord Bute, Prime Minister of England from 1762 to 1763, parts of the hotel were originally 18th century lodges built by his grandson, Lord Stuart de Rothesay. These historic buildings have been sensitively restored and transformed into stylish en suite suites.

Guests staying overnight can enjoy a peaceful retreat and a relaxed continental and cooked breakfast each morning. Whether dining, staying, or celebrating a special occasion, our team is dedicated to delivering a refined and memorable Lord Bute experience under Daniel Shelley’s leadership.

The Lord Bute also regularly hosts live music and entertainment evenings. Please visit our events page to see what is coming up and to book tickets.
